DNA Kit Signature Form Woes

Important note for individuals expecting a DNA kit from the AMHA office:

SIGNED FORMS MUST BE RETURNED TO THE AMHA OFFICE. DO NOT SEND THIS FORM TO THE LAB WITH THE HAIR SAMPLE.

Persons sending signed forms to the lab will incur delays in registration transactions. In certain cases, unnecessary time is spent sending duplicate forms for signature.

AMHA MUST HAVE THIS SIGNED FORM ON FILE BEFORE DNA RESULTS CAN BE RELEASED.

* Entries must be RECEIVED in the AMHA Office on close of entries deadline- not postmarked.

Transfers

Upon purchase of a horse be sure to get possession of all transfers of ownership for all owners between the recorded owner and you. If a transfer is skipped it creates problems when there is a foal application submitted for a breeding during the period of time the horse was owned by the person who did not transfer the dam/sire into their name. AMHA requires a stallion breeding report and a breeders certificate if the dam/sire were owned by anyone at the time of breeding other than the owner of the dam/sire at the time of foaling. If the stallion breeding report and the breeders certificate are not on file and the certificate(s) were never transferred into that person's ownership AMHA has a difficult time obtaining signatures or other documentation.

Dates of Transfer of Ownership

Be sure the date on the transfer of ownership form is the date you actually took possession of the horse. If this date is incorrect it creates a number of problems when attempting to register a foal involving this horse.

Hardship Registration

Just a reminder that when you have a horse you wish to apply for Hardship registration, you must submit the application, fees, and photographs BEFORE THE INSPECTION CAN BE DONE.
