2002 AMHA Other Arenas Program
ART, ESSAY & PHOTO CONTESTS!

Listen up. Consider AMHA's Other Arenas Program your ticket to cool awards, prizes and recognition. Contests and opportunities in this program recognize and reward youth members' "other talents" such as painting and drawing, writing and photography. It's easy to enter so don't miss your chance to submit for these upcoming contests. AMHA is currently acquiring prizes and any listed items are subject to change.

Armory of artwork? Then make sure to enter your pieces in AMHA's 2002 Art Contest. AMHA Youth Members can submit their "artistic vision" of the American Miniature Horse in three age divisions using a variety of mediums including watercolors/acrylics/oil, charcoal/colored pencils/pastels, pencil/pen and ink or mixed media.

1. Participants must be current AMHA Youth Members.
2. All artwork must be of American Miniature Horses and be created by the youth member, not an adult, and entrants must attest to that fact on the entry form.
3. All winning artwork remains (with permission from the artists and their guardians) the property of the American Miniature Horse Association and may be reproduced in any manner by AMHA for publication, display or distribution.
4. Multiple submissions are welcome but a separate entry form must be attached to the back of each piece of art. Only one entry per contestant will be awarded a prize (except in the case of Best of Show).
5. All artwork must be mounted (unless 3D). Unmounted artwork will not be considered.
6. Entries will not be returned (unless prior arrangements are made with AMHA) and will become the property of AMHA. Winning artwork may be used for promotional purposes.
7. Artwork must be received by the AMHA office no later than August 15 of the year of the contest. AMHA encourages participants to ship their items to the National Office by the August 15 deadline. Entries CAN BE brought to the National Show ONLY if an entry form has been sent in to the National Office by the August 15 deadline. No exceptions. Winners will be notified no later than October 1 of the same year. Late entries will not be accepted.
8. Entries will not be accepted after that date or at the AMHA National Show.
9. Judging will take place at the AMHA National Show.
10. Awards (TBD) will be given in each age category (7 & under, 8-12 and 13-17) for first through third place. Honorable mentions will be given.

Have a way with words? If you enjoy writing and sharing your thoughts on a topic, then the AMHA 2002 Essay Contest should be just up your alley. And, it's easy to enter, just submit your 500-word or less, typed and double-spaced essay on "What the American Miniature Horse Has Meant to Me," or "The Future of the American Miniature Horse."

1. Participants must be current AMHA Youth Members.
2. Participants are required to submit a 500-word or less, typed and double-spaced essay on the topics "What the American Miniature Horse Has Meant to Me" or "The Future of the American Miniature Horse."
3. All essays must be written by the youth member, not an adult, and entrants must attest to that fact on the entry form.
4. Entries must be received in the AMHA office no later than August 15 of the year of the contest.
5. Entries will not be accepted after that date or at the AMHA National Show.
6. Judging will take place at the AMHA National Office and winners will be notified no later than October 15 of the year of the contest.
7. All winning essays remain the property of AMHA and may be used for promotional purposes.
8. Awards will be given for first through third place. Honorable mentions will be given.

Do you see the world in pictures? Then submit your "takes" of the American Miniature Horse into our 2002 Photo Contest and you might just take home a digital camera for your captured moments.

1. Participants must be current AMHA Youth Members.
2. Photographs must be the entrants own work and must be taken by the youth member, not an adult, and entrants must attest to that fact on the entry form.
3. All photographs must be of an American Miniature Horse.
4. All winning compositions become property of the American Miniature Horse Association and may be reproduced in any manner by AMHA for publication, display or distribution.
5. All photographs cannot be smaller than 8" x 10".
6. Multiple submissions are welcome but a separate entry form must be attached to the back of each photograph. Entry forms must accompany all photographs. Only one entry per participant will be awarded a prize.
7. All photographs must be mounted. Unmounted photos will not be considered.
8. Entries will not be returned and will become the property of AMHA. Winning photos may be used for promotional purposes.
9. If photograph includes a person(s) that person(s) must consent in writing of agreement of said picture and must sign a waiver on the entry form. If that person(s) are under age 18 that person(s) parent or legal guardian must sign the waiver.
10. Judging will take place at the AMHA National Show.
11. Deadline for entries is August 15 of the year of the contest. AMHA encourages participants to ship their items to the National Office by the August 15 deadline.
