All Youth entered in Youth classes at the National Show are recruited on a Team for participation in the Team Tournament. We encourage the Youth to cheer on and support each other as they compete during their classes. If you have children who will be attending the National Show, and are not entered in Youth Classes, but would like to participate in the Youth Activities at the National Show, PLEASE LET US KNOW. They are welcome to participate also, but we need to know how many will be expected for award purposes.

YOUTH ROOM
The Youth Room will be available this year, but will have hours of accessibility, and be much more closely monitored. Of course we are counting on our Youth to maintain a high standard of responsibility, consideration and manners at all times. For questions or comments on any Youth Activities contact Jennifer Zehnder at (817) 783-5600, ext. 318.

ATTENTION EXHIBITORS

FUTURITIES
NOTE: Futurity entries will be made on the regular National Show entry form and must be designated as Futurity entries. All fees applicable to National Show entries apply to futurity entries except there is no class entry fee. All entry forms must include the owner's taxpayer identification number.

Please measure all Futurity horses as soon as possible. Measuring slips for Futurity horses must be in the show office no later than 6:00 P.M. Tuesday October 2, 2001.

YEARLING FUTURITY (Three Height Classes)
AMHA's eighth National Yearling Futurity will be held this year. Nominated yearlings being exhibited only in the Futurity classes are NOT required to be qualified for any National Show class. There is only one yearling gelding class.

TWO-YEAR-OLD FUTURITY (Two Height Classes)
This year will be our seventh Futurity for two-year-old horses. Those eligible to compete are the 1999 weanlings who were nominated for the 2000 Yearling Futurity and then sustained for the 2001 two-year-old event. There is only one two-year-old gelding class.

THREE-YEAR-OLD PERFORMANCE FUTURITY (Two Classes)
This will be our sixth Futurity for three-year-old performance horses. Two classes will be offered: Hunter and Single Pleasure Driving.

FUTURITY CHECKS
The checks awarded the night of the Futurity will be non- negotiable and for photo purpose only. The amounts of those checks will be based on horses entered in the classes at time entries close. The actual checks based on the number of horses actually competing in the classes at the National Show will be mailed within 30 days of the closing date of the Show.

JUDGING SYSTEM
The National Show and the National Futurities will use teams of five judges on each panel. In all classes the high and low placing for each horse/exhibitor will be deleted and the remaining three judges' placings will then be computer tabulated to determine the class results. NOTE: In the National Futurities ONLY, any entry placing first on three of the five judges' cards will automatically be awarded first place. Computer tabulations of judges' cards will be the only method used to determine winners. Scores earned by each horse from the three tallying judges (after high and low judges' scores have been deleted) will be added together to give the total score for each horse/exhibitor. The call judges' placings will be used to break all ties. If a tie still results from the first call judge's card, the tabulation moves on to the second call judge, then the third call judge, etc. until all ties are resolved and the horses/exhibitors placed. Class results and tabulations will be posted for exhibitor/spectator review as soon after judging as possible.

For computer tabulation horses placing under each judge will receive the following points:
1st place - 10 points 6th place - 5 points
2nd place - 9 points 7th place - 4 points
3rd place - 8 points 8th place - 3 points
4th place - 7 points 9th place - 2 points
5th place - 6 points 10th place - 1 point

In Open Halter classes, the Top Ten horses will return to the ring during the evening sessions and be placed for Champion & Reserve down to 10th place. All Futurity, Youth, Amateur, Performance and Specialty halter classes will be judged once using the computer accumulated tabulation system, mentioned in the paragraph above.

The 2001 AMHA National Show is covered by the rules and class specifications listed in the 2000-2001 Official Rule Book, plus any special rules and/or regulations outlined in this 2001 National Show Premium Book, and will be conducted and adjudicated in accordance therewith. As outlined in GR-010, knowledge of the AMHA Show Rules and Regulations, as well as the requirements of each class entered, is each exhibitor's responsibility.

HALTER CLASSES WITH TEN OR LESS ENTRIES
If an open halter class is determined to have 10 or less entries entered for competition, such class will only be judged once. This determination will be made after the entry period for that class has closed and horses are measured. Judging of a ten or less class entry will occur only during the evening session as the Top Ten competition for that class.
